The Seattle City Directory Collection is now available on The Seattle Public Library’s website, featuring directories from 1867 to 1928.
The collection contains directories with historical information about Seattle and the surrounding area, including addresses and occupations of residents, business listings, advertisements and information about schools, churches and social organizations.
The original city directories are at the Central Library, 100 Fourth Ave., on Level 10, in the Hugh and Jane Ferguson Seattle Room and on Level 9 in the History, Travel & Maps Department.
To view the collection on-line, visit the Library website at www.spl.organd select “Library Collection” from the top menu of the home page. Then select “Special Collections” from the menu on the left side of the page to find a link to The Seattle City Directory Collection.
The directories can be browsed and are full-text searchable.
